Most of that growth is master-planned — Providence and the streets around it, where the houses are new and the lots can look alike. At the water it is a different job. Old Hickory frontage on the east side gives some lots a slope to the lake, and there the aim has to stay off the surface — a beam tilted too high reads as a glare line from a passing boat.
