Outdoor Lighting in Nashville, TN

Designed to the
property and its setting.

No two Nashville streets light the same way. The west side alone runs from the wooded estates of Forest Hills and Oak Hill to the formal lawns of Belle Meade, the rebuilt lots of Green Hills, and the new construction rising in West Meade — different homes, different grades, different trees. Light TN is a landscape lighting designer based in Burns, and we design outdoor lighting in Nashville to the property and its setting, not a single template.

What ties them together is terrain and trees. Nashville is hilly and heavily canopied, and many of its grandest properties sit on slopes that change every sightline, behind mature hardwoods that predate the houses. The homes range from early-twentieth-century estates to new builds pushing seven figures and beyond, and each one — the facade, the grade, the pool terraced into the hillside — wants light designed to its own conditions.

Light TN runs each Nashville project the same way. Daryl Bentfield walks the property, you approve a photorealistic rendering before we dig, installation meets licensed contractor CE-D: 76580 standards, and we return after dark to aim every fixture on the grade. On Davidson County's heavy clay we bury wire trenchless so an established lawn stays whole — the work behind more than 500 Middle Tennessee projects since 2020.

Landscape Lighting in Nashville

Nashville's west-side estates are defined by mature canopy and hillside grade. We moonlight the specimen trees of a Forest Hills or Oak Hill lot, light the steps and retaining walls of a sloped garden, and keep the source out of sight — all rendered before we dig.

Architectural Lighting in Nashville

From an early-twentieth-century estate to a new West Meade build, we light each Nashville facade from its own architecture — warm, shielded, glare-controlled — so the house reads at night the way it was built to, with the hardware hidden by day.

Outdoor Lighting Design in Nashville

A complete lighting plan for a Nashville property, independent of installation — photorealistic renderings, fixture specifications, and zone layouts for owners, designers, and the custom builders working across the city. The design fee is credited when Light TN installs the system.

Permanent Roofline Lighting in Nashville

Commercial-grade LED set into the soffit or fascia of a Nashville home for warm white year-round and full color when you want it. One installation replaces seasons of temporary lighting, designed to the rooflines of the house — not a strip of holiday lights.

Outdoor Audio in Nashville

Even, high-fidelity sound across the pools, terraces, and outdoor kitchens of a Nashville estate — designed so music carries the space cleanly without crossing the lot line to a neighbor, and wired to the same standard as the lighting.

Smart Lighting Systems in Nashville

App-based zone control, scene programming, and astronomical scheduling, with integration for Control4, Lutron, Crestron, and Savant on Nashville's larger estates. The lighting comes up warm at dusk on its own and holds to one consistent design across the property.

Outdoor Lighting Installation in Nashville

Installation to licensed contractor CE-D: 76580 standards, by the studio that designed the plan. Across an established Nashville lawn we bury wire with the L2 Line Layer — the only trenchless machine of its kind in the market — and aim every fixture after dark.

Facade, landscape, and approach lighting for Nashville's offices, retail, and hospitality properties — designed with the same restraint as our residential work, for a composed nighttime presence and safe, even coverage across entries, walkways, and parking.

Trenchless Wire Burial in Nashville

Light TN runs low-voltage cable beneath an established Nashville lawn without trenching, using the L2 Line Layer — the only machine of its kind in the Nashville market. It reaches the far corners of a large, sloped lot without scarring the grounds.

Why Nashville Is Different

Why Nashville homes require
a different approach.

A City of Different Streets

Nashville's luxury runs from the wooded estates of Forest Hills and Oak Hill to formal Belle Meade, rebuilt Green Hills, and new West Meade construction. Each asks for a different hand, so we design from the property in front of us — its architecture, its grade, its trees — rather than one city-wide template.

Hills and Grade

Nashville is built on slopes, and grade changes every aim. A fixture set for the lawn can glare into a window on the floor above it, so we design to the contour — step lights where the ground falls, low grazing on retaining walls, aiming checked from uphill before it is set.

Mature Canopy and Old Estates

Many Nashville properties carry hardwoods older than the houses, on grounds landscaped decades ago. We light those specimen trees from the canopy and the trunk, and plan for a canopy that keeps changing — a limb dropped, a crown grown — so the design holds as the trees mature.

Nashville Estates & Historic Homes

No two properties
light the same way.

Lighting a Nashville property starts with reading the lot. The west side is hilly and heavily treed, and the grade does as much to shape a design as the architecture does. We read the slope first — where a hillside changes a sightline, where a fixture below a window could glare into it, where a terraced garden needs step lighting for footing — and design the system to the contour rather than to a flat plan.

The trees are usually older than the houses. A Forest Hills or Oak Hill lot often carries hardwoods that predate the home, set on acre-plus grounds, and they set the whole composition. We light them from the canopy and the trunk, and where wire must cross an established lawn, we bury it with the L2 Line Layer — the only machine of its kind in the Nashville market — so the turf and root zones stay intact.

Nashville estates are built for living outside, and the terrain shapes that too — pools terraced into hillsides, two-level decks, outdoor kitchens, and gardens held by retaining walls. We light those spaces to be used after dark and design the audio and smart control alongside them, so a sloped backyard works as one composed environment rather than a set of separate add-ons. From the historic estates of Belle Meade to the new construction of West Meade and the wooded lots of Forest Hills, that is the reason we design each one on site, and the reason each Light TN project is rendered and approved before we dig.

FAQ

Nashville outdoor lighting,
answered.

Is Light TN based in Nashville?

No — the studio is in Burns, west of the city, and Light TN comes into Nashville for the work. Daryl Bentfield walks the property for the on-site assessment, so a Forest Hills, Oak Hill, or West Meade design is drawn on the lot, among the actual trees and grade.

What outdoor lighting services do you offer in Nashville?

Light TN designs landscape, architectural, and roofline lighting, outdoor audio, smart control, full installation, commercial lighting, and trenchless wire burial — usually as one coordinated system for a Nashville property rather than separate add-ons.

Can you light a hillside Nashville lot without glare into the house?

Grade is the first thing Light TN checks on Nashville's slopes. We set fixtures below sightlines and aim each one from uphill, so a light placed downhill never glares into a window above it, with step lighting added where the ground falls away.

Can you light the old trees on a west-side estate?

Yes. Light TN moonlights and uplights the mature hardwoods on a Forest Hills or Oak Hill lot from the canopy and the trunk, so the trees carry the nighttime landscape, with the fixtures kept out of sight.

Will installation tear up my established lawn?

No. Light TN buries low-voltage wire with the L2 Line Layer, a trenchless machine and the only one in the Nashville market, so cable reaches a large, sloped lot without trenching and the turf stays intact.

Do you light the pool, terrace, and outdoor rooms?

Light TN lights the whole backyard — pools terraced into a hillside, decks, outdoor kitchens, and gardens — and designs the audio and smart control alongside it, so the spaces you use after dark work as one environment.
