Landscape Lighting in Hendersonville, TN

Lighting that has to read
from the water.

Hendersonville has more Old Hickory Lake shoreline than any city on it — twenty-six miles across two peninsulas — and its most prized lots run down to the water. That changes the whole problem. A lakefront landscape gets read three ways: from the house looking out, from the yard at the water's edge, and from a boat looking back. Light TN is a landscape lighting designer based in Burns, and on these lots we design for all three views at once.

These are sloped lots — the ground falls from the house toward the water, often in terraces and steps. We light that descent for footing and for depth: step lights on the stairs down, low grazing on the retaining walls that hold the bank, and zoning that follows the grade so the walk to the dock is both safe and composed.

What a Lakefront Lot Asks For

Three things every
Hendersonville lot teaches us.

Shoreline Trees and Canopy

The mature trees along the bank are what frame the lake from the house. We moonlight and uplight them so the canopy holds the view rather than blocking it, and because a shoreline keeps growing in, we plan for a tree line that will be fuller and taller in five years.

Down to the Dock

Most of these properties end at a dock, and the path to it is the spine. We light it low and warm — step lights where the grade drops, shielded fixtures along the way — so the walk down is sure-footed and the dock reads as the end of a composed landscape.

Keeping the Lake Dark

Water punishes a careless aim. A fixture tilted a few degrees too high lays a glare line straight across the surface, so we light the shoreline from above and behind and keep every beam off the lake. The reflection in the water should be the moon, not your up-lights.

FAQ

Hendersonville landscape lighting,
answered.

Is Light TN based in Hendersonville?

No — the studio is in Burns, and Light TN comes to Hendersonville and the Old Hickory shoreline for the work. Daryl Bentfield meets you on the property, at the water's edge, so the design accounts for your slope, your tree line, and the view across the lake.

Will the lighting glare out over the lake?

No — keeping light off the water is the discipline of a Hendersonville design. Light TN aims and shields every fixture so the shoreline and the path to the dock are lit while the lake stays dark, and the only reflection on the water is the sky.

Can you light the slope down to my dock safely?

Yes. Light TN lights a lakefront descent with step lights on the stairs and low grazing on the retaining walls, zoned to follow the grade, so the walk from the house to the dock is sure-footed after dark and reads as one continuous landscape.

Will installation disturb my lawn or the bank?

No. Light TN keeps fixtures shielded and aimed off the water and buries low-voltage wire with the L2 Line Layer, a trenchless machine and the only one in the Nashville market, so cable goes in without trenching the bank or the lawn above it.

How is this different from the full Hendersonville outdoor lighting page?

This page is landscape lighting — the shoreline trees, beds, paths, and dock approach. The full Hendersonville outdoor lighting page brings that together with architectural, roofline, audio, and smart-control lighting for the whole property.
