Outdoor Lighting in Smyrna, TN

Designed to the
lot it sits on.

Smyrna grew from a railroad-and-farming town into one of Rutherford County's fastest-growing communities, and most of its nicer homes are new — master-planned communities like Greystone and The Vineyards, lakefront lots in the Estates at the Lake near Percy Priest. The landscapes are young and the lots are open. Light TN is a landscape lighting designer based in Burns, and we design outdoor lighting in Smyrna around the lot it sits on and the young landscape on it.

New construction changes the lighting problem. On an open lot with fresh plantings, we design for the landscape now and for what it will be once the trees fill in, placing fixtures and zones so the system still holds in five years. Near Percy Priest Lake, a lot may run to the water, where the light has to stay off the surface — and either way the homes are built to entertain, with open-concept plans, smart-home wiring, and decks and patios out back.

Light TN runs each Smyrna project the same way. Daryl Bentfield walks the property, you approve a photorealistic rendering before we dig, installation meets licensed contractor CE-D: 76580 standards, and we return after dark to aim every fixture. We bury wire trenchless so a new lawn or an established one stays whole — the work behind more than 500 Middle Tennessee projects since 2020.

Landscape Lighting in Smyrna

Smyrna's newer estates come with young landscapes and open lots. We light for the trees the property has and the trees it will have, graze the beds, and on a Percy Priest lakefront lot keep every beam off the water — all rendered before we dig.

Architectural Lighting in Smyrna

Smyrna's new homes run modern and traditional, often with open-concept plans and clean lines. We light each facade from its own architecture — warm, shielded, glare-controlled — so the house reads at night the way it was built to, with the hardware out of sight.

Outdoor Lighting Design in Smyrna

A complete lighting plan for a Smyrna property, independent of installation — photorealistic renderings, fixture specifications, and zone layouts for owners and the builders working its new communities. The design fee is credited when Light TN installs the system.

Permanent Roofline Lighting in Smyrna

Commercial-grade LED set into the soffit or fascia of a Smyrna home for warm white year-round and full color when you want it. One installation replaces seasons of temporary lighting, designed to the rooflines of the house — not a strip of holiday lights.

Outdoor Audio in Smyrna

Even, high-fidelity sound across the decks, patios, and pools Smyrna's new homes are built around — designed so music carries the space without pushing past the property line, and wired to the same standard as the lighting.

Smart Lighting Systems in Smyrna

App-based zone control, scene programming, and astronomical scheduling, with integration for Control4, Lutron, Crestron, and Savant — a natural fit for Smyrna's smart-home-wired new builds. The lighting comes up warm at dusk on its own and holds to one design.

Outdoor Lighting Installation in Smyrna

Installation to CE-D: 76580 standards, by the studio that designed the plan. Across a Smyrna lawn — new sod or established turf — we bury wire with the L2 Line Layer, the only trenchless machine of its kind here, and aim every fixture after dark.

Commercial Outdoor Lighting in Smyrna

Facade, landscape, and approach lighting for Smyrna offices, retail, and business properties — designed with the same restraint as our residential work, for a composed nighttime presence and safe, even coverage across entries, walkways, and parking lots.

Trenchless Wire Burial in Smyrna

Light TN runs low-voltage cable beneath a Smyrna lawn without trenching, using the L2 Line Layer — the only machine of its kind in the market. On fresh new-build sod or an older lawn alike, the wire goes in without scarring the grounds.

Why Smyrna Is Different

Why Smyrna homes require
a different approach.

New Communities, Young Landscapes

Most of Smyrna's nicer homes are new — Greystone, The Vineyards, and similar communities — with plantings still filling in. We design lighting that flatters a young landscape now and accommodates it as the trees mature, so the system still makes sense in five years.

Percy Priest Lakefront

Smyrna runs up to Percy Priest Lake, and lots in the Estates at the Lake and nearby fall toward the water. On a lakefront lot we light the descent and the shoreline, shielded and aimed off the surface, so the grounds read from the house while the lake stays dark.

Open Lots, Built to Entertain

Smyrna's new homes sit on open, generous lots and come wired for smart control, with decks, patios, and pools out back. We light those spaces to be used after dark and design the audio and control alongside them, so the property works as one environment from the start.

New & Lakefront Smyrna Homes

No two properties
light the same way.

Lighting a Smyrna property usually starts with a young landscape. The town's growth has filled it with new master-planned communities — Greystone, The Vineyards, Estates at the Lake — where the plantings are recent and the lots are open. We design lighting that flatters the yard now and is placed for the landscape it will become, so you light the property once rather than redo it as the trees grow.

Some Smyrna lots run to the water. Near Percy Priest Lake, the ground falls toward the surface, and a fixture aimed too high lays a glare line across it, so we light the descent and the shoreline from above and behind, shielded and aimed down the bank. Where wire must cross a lawn, we bury it with the L2 Line Layer — the only machine of its kind in the market — so the turf stays whole.

Smyrna's new homes are built to entertain and wired for it — open-concept plans, smart-home systems, decks and patios and pools out back. We light those spaces to be used after dark and design the audio and smart control alongside them, so a Smyrna property works as one composed environment rather than a set of separate add-ons.

FAQ

Smyrna outdoor lighting,
answered.

Is Light TN based in Smyrna?

No — the studio is in Burns, and Light TN drives to Smyrna and Rutherford County for the work. Daryl Bentfield walks the property for the on-site assessment, whether it is a new build in Greystone or a lakefront lot near Percy Priest, so the design fits the lot in front of him.

What outdoor lighting services do you offer in Smyrna?

Light TN designs landscape, architectural, and roofline lighting, outdoor audio, smart control, full installation, commercial lighting, and trenchless wire burial — usually as one coordinated system for a Smyrna property rather than separate add-ons.

Should I wait until my new landscape matures to add lighting?

No — Light TN designs a young Smyrna landscape for where it is headed. We place fixtures and zones so the lighting flatters the yard now and still works once the trees fill in, which means you light it once rather than redo it as the garden grows.

Can you light a lakefront lot near Percy Priest?

Yes. Light TN lights a Smyrna lakefront lot's descent and shoreline with shielded fixtures aimed off the water, so the grounds read from the house while Percy Priest Lake stays dark.

Will installation tear up my new sod?

No. Light TN buries low-voltage wire with the L2 Line Layer, a trenchless machine and the only one of its kind in the market, so cable goes in without trenching — fresh new-build sod or an established lawn alike.

Do you light the deck, patio, and pool?

Light TN lights the whole backyard — decks, patios, pools, and gardens — and designs the audio and smart control alongside it, so the spaces you use after dark work as one environment.

Can I see the design before committing?

Every Smyrna project starts with a photorealistic rendering of your property at night, which you approve before any fixture goes in the ground. Changes are made on screen, not in the yard.

How much does outdoor lighting cost in Smyrna?

Each Smyrna system is designed to the property, so cost follows its size and scope rather than a set package. Daryl provides a firm number with the design, after walking the property; the on-site design consultation is complimentary.
